Real Madrid 2-2 Barcelona

Real Madrid walked away with a point, but it was an important away result.

¡Muy bien Ronaldo y Los Blancos!

Real Madrid 3-2 Manchester City

Fox Soccer > Action Hero:

Cristiano Ronaldo scored in the 90th minute Tuesday asReal Madrid came back earn a 3-2 victory against Manchester City in a Champions League opener that turned into a wild shootout over the last 25 minutes.

Well done, Los Blancos!

I can’t believe it just happened: first we were down, then we came back immediately to equalize; then we were down again, and we came back immediately with another equalizer; and just before the end, CR7 comes up with a powerfully dipping strike, providing Real Madrid with the win to open their Champions League campaign. Drama, drama, drama!

¡Hala Madrid!

El Clasico #1 2012-2013

Well, Los Blancos lost leg one in the Spanish Supercup away to Barcelona today. But, you know what? That’s okay. We may have lost, but we earned two valuable away goals. We also took the initial lead. And, most significantly, we did so without Pepe. We might have actually maintained a draw or a win had we included our beloved central defender. Ronaldo scored his first goal of the 2012-2013 campaign, as did Di Maria, the latter of which worked hard to steal the ball from Valdez. Both goals were nice.

If it wasn’t clear already, Albiol really is a deficient defender. Sell him off and replace him, please! We need a different backup for Pepe and Ramos.

Real Madrid 2011-2012

¡Hala Madrid! Los Blancos won their 32nd La Liga title today. That’s the only silverware we get this year, but it is so nice to have it. We did get to the semifinals of the Champions League, but we just didn’t have enough gas in the tank to overcome Bayern Munich after having spent ourselves in El Clasico the weekend prior. La Liga is ours, and that’s sufficient—for now.

Here’s how our goals panned out this year:

Alonso: 2
Altintop: 1
Benzema: 32
Callejon: 11
Di Maria: 7
Higuain: 26
Kaká: 8
Khedira: 4
Marcelo: 3
Özil: 8
Pepe: 1
Ramos: 4
Ronaldo: 59
Varane: 1
Goals for: 169
Goals against: 52

We had a goal difference of +117. We outscored our opponents 3.25 to 1 across all competitions. Ronaldo broke his La Liga record from last year, totaling 46 goals out of Real Madrid’s 121, accounting for 38% of all of our goals. Despite breaking his record from last year, Barcelona’s Messi outscored him this year with 50 La Liga goals. Ba. Meh. Take a look at this:

And this:

And, finally, this:

In sum, we didn’t rely solely on Ronaldo. Naturally, he scored less because the wealth was spread to Higuain and Benzema as well. The stats from La Liga show that it was a triumvirate influence. Messi may have scored more than Ronaldo, but, let’s face it, Ronaldo’s were more valuable, as it earned him the league and Messi, well, he came up empty handed for earning Barcelona any silverware (well, he still has Copa del Rey).

So, congratulations to Ronaldo for being top scorer, followed by Benzema and Higuain. Special shout out to Callejon—what a talented young player! Congratulations to Real Madrid for winning La Liga, being the first team ever to accumulate 100 points in league, and for also being the first team ever to get 121 goals in league.

¡Hala Madrid!

Real Madrid 4-1 Mallorca

Los Blancos set a record for earning 100 points in league to win the title after beating Mallorca 4-1 today. Ronaldo opened the scoring, Benzema got in on the action, but it was Ozil who earned a brace. No clean sheet, but it doesn’t matter.

¡Campeones! ¡Campeones! ¡Campeones!

¡Hala Madrid!
