Sigh of relief. Not only do we win, but we get a clean sheet. Not only did we earn three points, but we ended up winning the group. How about them apples!

We may not have had the dominant possession, but we were organized from back to front, and we dominated the game as a result. We were good on the counter and did well to keep Valencia in check. Drogba scored early in the 3rd minute, which really set the tone for the rest of the match. On the counter Drogba fed Ramires somewhat poorly, but the workhorse that he is, Ramires won positioning and got our second goal at something like the 26th minute. In the 76th minute, Mata fed Drogba for his second and Chelsea’s third goal of the game, sealing the three points.

Today’s game was very encouraging to watch. Organized. Rhythmic. Passionate. More, please!

And for the man of the match? Drogba. Yes, he scored twice and got an assist. He also tormented Valencia’s defense through and through.

David Luiz appeared settled in, which is good. We can’t expect Alex to fill the gap, and we need David Luiz to take mold, which he did today. In addition, it was good to see Terry continue his weekend form in today’s mid-week match. Very much at the helm, large and in charge, Terry commanded the defense exceptionally well.

Keep it up, Blues!
