No, not the movie, but the book. Fever Pitch, by Nick Hornby, took me half a year to read. It isn’t about baseball or the Boston Red Sox as the movie has it. It is about soccer–football–and Arsenal. But it isn’t a novel. It is Hornby’s personal memoirs about being a crazed Arsenal fan; it is a book about the the consumption of football.
I know why I began reading it–it was recommended reading for all soccer fans by a blog I read. Being that I am not an Arsenal fan, I found a lot of it very tough to read through, simply because I got bored. It didn’t provide good reading, so, in the end, I’m not sure why I read it.
