What’s Your Number?

I finally saw What’s Your Number?, and it was enjoyable. This movie highlights the fact that love allows one to be oneself, which is not unpredictable for such a movie, but it is a good thought for all to recall to mind. Surprisingly, a certain amount of abstinence comes through, but a bit late–after Faris’ character brings the lovers tally to 20. The movie is funny throughout, but not if you have a strong aversion to the F-word. Faris is predictable in her mannerisms from start to finish, strongly reminiscent of her role in House Bunny, but still enjoyable nonetheless.

Did you like the movie? What was your favorite scene?

Inter Milan 1-2 Juventus

Internazionale vs Juventus Live Streaming and TV Listings, Live Scores, News, Videos :: October 29, 2011 :: Italy Serie A :: Live Soccer TV.

The first Derby d’Italia of the 2011-2012 season goes to Juve as Inter lost 2-1. During the first few minutes of the game, Inter had Juve stuck in their box but couldn’t capitalize on the situation. Juve found a counter attacking goal to take the lead. Maicon found an answer to that goal to bring it level, but Juve again struck the back of the net before the half. The second half saw no goals but several yellow cards.

Depending on tomorrow’s league results, the Nerazzuri might be in the bottom three. How is it we could go from world champs, treble winners, to runner up in the Scudetto and victor of the Coppa d’Italia, to bottom of the table, possibly seeing relegation?

Goals:

  • Cambiasso: 2
  • Forlan: 1
  • Lucio: 2
  • Maicon: 1
  • Milito: 3
  • Motta: 1
  • Pazzini: 3

Chelsea 3-5 Arsenal

Chelsea vs Arsenal Live Streaming and TV Listings, Live Scores, News, Videos :: October 29, 2011 :: England Premier League :: Live Soccer TV.

Utterly atrocious. Chelsea gain the lead half way through the first half. Arsenal followed up with a goal. Before the half ended, we took the lead. Shortly after the break, Arsenal scored twice. We scored, and then Arsenal answered with yet two more goals. What was expected to be a thrashing on the Gunners ended up being a thrashing on the Blues. What just happened?

Lampard scored our first goal. He is now our leading scorer in all competitions, again. Terry scored our second. His was off of a corner. It seemed to me that he didn’t strike the ball, and this one may go down as an own goal. Mata scored our final goal with a wicked strike from about 30 yards out.

Scoring was a bit of a problem for us at the start. We had several opportunities to score, and we took advantage of none of them, which will surely haunt us in time for Halloween.

But our real problem was our back four. Bosingwa was horrid. Terry made a grave mistake–albeit accidental, for he slipped and fell, allowing van Persie to challenge Cech uncontested. We have not had a clean sheet in a while; I don’t even remember the last time we kept the opposition from scoring in the BPL. We will not be able to compete with the Manchester teams until we can tighten and tidy things up in our back line.

Bosingwa, as well as he has been for us, is our weakest link in the back four. Furthermore, his crossing is far from good. He has few noteworthy moments, which, I am afraid, do not outweigh his general mundane performance. I would not use Bosingwa any longer. We need to tighten up our back four, and we need to sharpen our crossing. In his place might be Ferreira or even Ivanovich, if David Luiz plays central with Terry.

Goals:

  • Anelka: 1
  • Bosingwa: 1
  • David Luiz: 1
  • Drogba: 1
  • Ivanovich: 1
  • Kalou: 2
  • Lampard: 6
  • Malouda: 1
  • Mata: 3
  • Meireles: 1
  • Sturridge: 5
  • Ramires: 3
  • Terry: 3
  • Torres: 4
  • Goals for: 32
  • Goals against: 17

Unto the Locust by Machine Head

iTunes – Music – Unto the Locust (Special Edition) by Machine Head.

I’m not a huge Machine Head fan. I have one other album, The Blackening, and I can’t listen to it all the way through. It is of a type of metal that I don’t favor. But Unto the Locust, their latest album, received great reviews, so I thought I would give it a chance. I have found that this album is quite good.

Only one of this album’s songs has any popularity on iTunes–Locust. Here are some noteworthy songs from my point of view:

  • I Am Hell
  • Be Still and Know
  • Locust
  • This Is the End

My favorite song is This Is the End. What’s yours?

Threat Signal by Threat Signal

iTunes – Music – Threat Signal by Threat Signal.

Like it or hate it, Threat Signal has released a self-titled album, their junior album, and it is good. Their sound has changed slightly from album to album, and, yet, there is a certain continuity about the music. Rip-roaring percussion rhythms abound in this heavy metal album. The rhythms are complex, as is usual for Threat Signal, and the guitars are heavy and driven. The throaty melodies of the lead singer are familiar, distinct, and bear the uniqueness that differentiates this band from other melodic metal units. This album is good, as I said before, and it offers some solid music to listen to.

Some songs of particular noteworthiness:

  • Trust in None
  • Fallen Disciples
  • Disposition
  • Death Before Dishonor

I really like Disposition. Definitely my favorite. Which one is yours?

American Capitalist by Five Finger Death Punch

iTunes – Music – American Capitalist by Five Finger Death Punch.

Fiver Finger Death Punch have released their third album, American Capitalist, and it is every bit as lyrically pungent as its predecessors. In fact, the first song, American Capitalist, refers to the previous two albums, Way of the Fist and War Is the Answer, in most clever fashion. The songs throughout the album are quick and grungy in the now familiar Five Finger Death Punch style. This album is one part pop metal and one part melodic metal. It is one entertaining album.

Here are the most popular songs for this album on the iTunes Store:

  • American Capitalist
  • Under and Over it
  • The Pride
  • Coming Down
  • Generation Dead
  • Back for More
  • Remember Everything

I personally like Coming Down the most. Which one of their latest songs sticks out to you the most?

  • Children of Fire by Oh, Sleeper

iTunes – Music – Children of Fire by Oh, Sleeper.

Oh, Sleeper is a solid band, and their latest album, Children of Fire, is every bit as solid. This album went to the top of the iTunes Metal charts quicker than newspaper goes up in flames when a match is taken to it. And it is still at the top of the charts as of today. This album surely is noteworthy.

Here are the most popular songs for this album on iTunes:

    • Endseekers
    • Hush Yael
    • The Family Ruin
    • Children of Fire

My favorite is Hush Yael. Do you have a favorite?

Echoes of the Fallen by Anterior

iTunes – Music – Echoes of the Fallen by Anterior.

It has been several years since Anterior produced their previous album. Now they have come forth with Echoes of the Fallen, and it picks up right where This Age of Silence left off. This band continues to shred the guitar and assemble complex rhythms.

The entire album is good–there is not a single bad track, not even the 1:27 Echoes of the Fallen, which breaks up the fast paced shredding of the album to allow its listeners a moment to catch their breath! Yet, I have no favorite song as none really stand out. They are all good songs, but none of them are spectacular. But I stand by may initial statement.

Dead Throne by The Devil Wears Prada

iTunes – Music – Dead Throne by The Devil Wears Prada.

Heavy. Metal. Dead Throne, The Devil Wears Prada’s latest album, takes the heavy motif to a new level for this work of metal. The guitars have a very dark, heavy tone. Both the guitars and the drums are very technically challenged in the rhythms. The Devil Wears Prada lightens up on the heavy side of metal by putting in some well placed melodious singing.

    Songs of particular noteworthiness:

    • Untidaled
    • Mammoth
    • Vengeance
    • R.I.T.
    • My Questions
    • Born to Lose
    • Constance
    • Pretenders
    • Holdfast

My favorite song currently is Vengeance. Which one is your favorite?
