Things started out grim today when Rayo Vallecano (RAY) scored a goal in the first 15 seconds of the match against Los Blancos. Later in the half Ronaldo equalized by putting the ball between the legs of RAY’s keeper. Higuain followed that up with a second goal to take the lead before the half. After the break, Ronaldo converted a penalty that Kaka had earned, but then RAY pulled one back. Varane scored his first goal for Real Madrid off of a corner kick. Benzema scored a wonderful goal that was set up by an equally wonderful pass from Özil. And Ronaldo earned a penalty of his own that he converted, gaining himself yet another hat trick.
Di Maria got a double yellow and was sent off. He is a good player, but he is a gamble, because he consistently makes poor choices on the field.
Some questions have been raised of Mourinho and Los Blancos, because we have failed to score in the two previous games. Furthermore, since we did not win against Levante, it was imperative that we get the three points today. We did, but not without raising more questions. How is it that we could allow a goal within 15 seconds of the match? Why are we consistently seeing red cards?
Hopefully today’s win will begin to build momentum for Los Blancos. We are outscoring our opponents 2.1-1, but we need to excel in the face of lesser teams.
