Bizarro World: Deadlock’s Latest

Deadlock’s latest album, Bizarro World, is, well, different. Earth.Revolt, their debut album, had Scherer as a complement to the growls. In both Wolves and Manifesto, their 2nd and 3rd albums, respectively, she had the lead role. Bizarro World builds on this lead role. Something is bizarre with this album; it just doesn’t satisfy. It is hard to pinpoint. Indeed, I have added this album to my metal playlist. I don’t intend to listen to this album straight through anymore. I give this album a 4 out of 5 stars. Two songs are really good out of the 9 original songs, not counting 2 all instrumental pieces. Virus Jones and Brutal Romance are the best of the lot, with Falling Skyward, Earthlings, You Left Me Dead, and Htrae all hot on the trail. The lowest part of this album is its pop rock style in State of Decay and Renegade. We can forgive its ballad, Paranoia Extravaganza, as I think all albums, metal or not, should have at least one. But the pop rock style of the two aforementioned songs is inconceivable. It’s just not very metal.

Real Madrid 3-0 Olympique Lyon

Real Madrid took it to Lyon today, winning 3-nil at home in the Champions League, sending them to the quarterfinals. The goals were nice. Marcelo opened the scoring. The commentators called it a wonder goal. I don’t think it deserves that title. But it was good to get that goal. Benzema scored 2nd against his former club, putting it between the keeper’s legs. Finally, Di Maria got the third goal in a nice chip over the keeper. The aggregate goes to Real Madrid, 4-1. Quarterfinals here we come!

Chelsea 0-0 København

Frus-tra-ting. Chelsea could not score a single goal against Copenhagen today at the Stamford Bridge. They managed to score two away in Copenhagen, but could not find the back of the net in London. In some respects, the game was boring. Not a single goal. Lame. In other respects, it was far from boring. The Danes hit the post in the first half on a nicely taken free kick. Czech had no chance at saving it. The Blues had ample opportunities to capitalize on the poor Danish defense, but they failed in every instance. Drogba did not score; he is now goalless in 9 games I believe. Torres has yet to get his £50,000,000 goal. So frustrating. However, the aggregate between the two legs goes to Chelsea. The Blues move on to the next round of the Champions League. [yawn]
